Notice of Elections for General, Safety, and Retired Members on Board of Retirement

Elections for General Member, Safety Member, Alternate Safety Member, Retired Member, and Alternate Retired Member representatives on the VCERA Board of Retirement will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Any active General member is eligible to run for the General Member representative office. Any retired member is eligible to run for the Retired Member or Alternate Member representative office. Any active Safety Member is eligible to run for the Safety Member office.

Note that the elections for Safety Member and Alternate Safety Member are combined. The Safety Member shall be the candidate who receives the highest number of votes. The Alternate Safety Member shall be the candidate, if any, from law enforcement or fire suppression who receives the highest number of votes of the candidates in the group that is not represented by the Safety Member. Law enforcement personnel include Welfare Fraud Investigators and Probation Officers, and fire suppression personnel include Airport Operations Officers and Harbor Patrol Officers who have been granted safety membership.

The elected members will serve a term commencing on January 1, 2027 until December 31, 2029.

Nomination documents can be obtained by appointment starting on July 13, 2026. To make an appointment, contact VCERA by email at info@vcera.gov or by phone at (805) 339-4250. Completed nomination packets must be returned to VCERA by August 5, 2026, at 5 p.m.
